About
One of the most traditional Brazil folkloric carnival celebrations in the state of Espírito Santo is the Boi Pintadinho (Painted Ox), which takes place in the streets of the historic town of Muqui, in the south of the state. The ox festivals, very popular in northern Brazil, arrived in Espírito Santo from Rio de Janeiro and spread throughout the southern municipalities, receiving new influences from each locality.
