Title: Wiki Loves Names Project

Abstract: Wiki Loves Names is a way of enriching Wikitonary with outdated ancient names and names that are going into extinction. Africans attach a lot of importance to the names they bear; both individual names and names of their communities. There are varied reasons for this.

There are over thousands of African names not captured anywhere especially the ancient names and they are going into extinction, most of the young generation youths are not aware of the names and this will be worst if they are not documented now.

In the first edition, we used Igbo Wikitonary platform to test run the project, the project was so successful, we had 2 pieces of training, 2 Editathons and a contest.. At the end of the project we had 54 Editors, created 2.3K pages on Igbo Wiktionary, edited 2.32K pages and had a total edits of 2.87K.
