Mind Over Murder - File Fix Inner Sanctum Mysteries August 22, 1949 This is the real August 22, 1949 Inner Sanctum episode 'Mind Over Murder'. If you downloaded the OTRR Inner Sanctum Mysteries collection, what you may have for this date is a mislabelled copy of 'No Rest For The Dead', which is actually from August 24, 1952. August 1949 was in the Bromo-Seltzer era, although the mp3 on this page is a commercial-free AFRS broadcast. If your file begins with the Ennds 'Triple-O' plug, followed by Mr. Host talking first about the coroner, then about Mr. Macabre, what you have is the erroneous file. The correct file opens with Mr. Host talking about his fishing trip, then the story about a man witnessing a crime. Update: If you have the OTRR Inner Sanctum Mysteries Certified Set, version 2.1 or higher, then you have the correct file. You may find Mind Over Murder a bit flat, despite an excellent and experienced cast made up of Everett Sloane, Elspeth Eric, and Lawson Zerbe. The clever twist-ending is delivered with little enthusiasm, and Inner Sanctum's trademark irony is missing altogether. Still, for die-hard fans of the Sanctum, it's an enjoyable listen. April 2018 Update: Listening to this episode six months later, it's a much better story and a much better performance than I gave it credit for in the paragraph above. The ZIP File: In its original form, this mp3 played very poorly, and the seek function would confuse the player and necessitate a restart. Importing the mp3…

Every episode plays from its archive, which this site does not copy; rights are as each archive states them. Nothing here is called public domain on this site's say-so. In the United States, sound recordings first fixed before 15 February 1972 have federal protection under the Music Modernization Act of 2018, for most until 2067 at the latest, so most American radio of the 1930s to the 1950s is not in the public domain there. Each set shows the licence, mark or statement its archive gives, and says whose it is. Horror, crime, war and westerns are for teenage and adult profiles, racist caricature for adults only, and children’s profiles hear what was made for children. More about these archives.
