The radio series Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar was broadcast in a 5-day per week 15-minute format for about 13 months starting October 3, 1955. The stories were usually superb because of the additional time to develop intricate plotlines and rich characterizations. This series was also the debut of Bob Bailey in the lead role. Prior actors who had the role from 1949 were Charles Russell, Edmond O'Brien, and John Lund.
More about it
These recordings were part of a 10-hour marathon that was streamed over the YesterdayUSA Red nostalgia channel on October 3, 2025. Each story was introduced by classic radio researcher Dr. Joe Webb and YTJD expert John Abbott.
Some of the YTJD stories were built on scripts that were used in other radio series. They were not a direct re-use, but were more of a foundation of an expansion of the stories. One of the key writers of the series was "John Dawson," a pseudonym of legendary radio writer E. Jack Neuman. Other writers were Les Crutchfield (notable for Gunsmoke), Robert Ryf, and series producer Jack Johnstone.

Radio drama, old-time radio and historic broadcasts from the Internet Archive (its Old Time Radio collection with the Old Time Radio Researchers' sets, WWII Era Audio Recordings, the Pacifica Radio Archives, the Radio Haiti Archive, German radio plays and listeners' uploads), Wikimedia Commons (with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision's broadcasts) and the Library of Congress. Every episode plays from its archive, which this site does not copy; rights are as each archive states them. Nothing here is called public domain on this site's say-so. In the United States, sound recordings first fixed before 15 February 1972 have federal protection under the Music Modernization Act of 2018, for most until 2067 at the latest, so most American radio of the 1930s to the 1950s is not in the public domain there. Each set shows the licence, mark or statement its archive gives, and says whose it is. Horror, crime, war and westerns are for teenage and adult profiles, racist caricature for adults only, and children’s profiles hear what was made for children. More about these archives.
