Ashland Tidings. Thu 1'ortland Clothing ft Shoe Store has received by express a large quantity of novelties which are very unique In fashion. Business Is pressing at tho Pant ntorlum. 7-13 While most of tho people of this city have given up the Idea of having rait connection during 1908, they look forward to the first train In tho early part of the ensuing year, liv ery Indication along the line polntH to the fact that ft Is tho Intention of the Southern Pacific to complete thu road to Klamath Kails at the earliest possible date. Parties coming In from Dorrls say that tho rails are now laid to a point this sldo of tho Jtnto line and not less than 700 men are at work on the roadbed between the edge of the marsh and the pres ent terminus. Construction trains aro being run over tho hill and heavy machinery Is brought In by the cars so that It doe away with tho difficulties of transporting the heavy steam shovels and the other machinery necessary for doing rapid work. It Is evidently tho aim of the en gineers In charge of tho work to complete tho road to the navigable water so that stages and freight wa gons can be abandoned and the boat can make direct connection with tho (rains. The only delay In the early completion of the road to this city Is lllkely to occur In the marsh. Tho contractors have found tho construc tion of tho dike far more difficult than they had anticipated and this taken Into consideration In connec tion with the fact that the machinery has been breaking down continuous ly has already caused a delay of sev eral months and the dike Is not more than half built. Sirs. Jobh Xow the Champion. Mrs. It. M. Jobb, of San Francisco, has gone Dr. Ida Stone ono better and while at Odessa tho fore part of the week she succeeded In landing a thirteen and a halt pound trout with a light rod and line. This la a few pounds heavier than tho one caught by Mrs. Stone and consequent ly tho ladles championship now- pas ses to Mrs. Jobb. The contractors building the base ment for the new White block are rushing matters and already bare a portion of tho frame work for tho walls. It Is quite evident that they will complete their portion ot tho building within three weeks, tho time alotted In the contract. o 6M6MmM I Going Camping j We have the best guns and ammunition.
