A young lady in my family, by using two papers, I have rea son to believe, is effectually cured of an alarm ing Pulmonic Complaint, which in all its symp toms gave evidence of immediate consumption. ON Tuesday morning, between Fredericks-i burg and my plantation, in the upper end j of Stafford, a NEGRO MAN, and the MARE on which he was riding, both belonging to me, j were stolen by a man who seems to have been a stranger in this part of the country. When! seen in possession of the Slave and of the Mare, 1 he was inquiring his way to Stafford Court House. He is described to me as a person be tween fifty and sixty years of age, with re markably white hair; his stature stout and well j set. He wore a brownish colored 811111' cloak, j The negro is between twenty-five and thirty years of age, as well as is remembered; stout in his person, and about five feet ten or eleven in-1 ches high; has a drawling manner of talking, 1 and appears to be much less sagacious than he really is. His name is Jack. His dress was a blue cloth cap, a grey great coat, and his under clothing drab cloth. The Mare is a fine large sorrel, without any spot of white about her, unless perhaps there may be some few white hairs in the centre of the forehead, not covering more than the size of a four-pence-halfpenny. She is, as well as is recollected, going on seven years of age; is re- j markably long in her body; has along tail, and j it is remarkable where it joins the rump. There j may he discerned in the film of one of her eyes an incision which was made a year or two ago to cure the hooks. One Hundred Dollars Reward will be given for j therecovery of the above Slave and Mare, or in the proportion of tour and two for the recovery ol either. JNO. TAYLOE LOMAX. '"ALEXANDRIA: TUESDAY MORNING, MARCH 18, 1834. We insert Mr. Leigh’s speech in the Senate on ,he Deposite question, as public curiosity is ex ited to see the report of his first effort in his ne«- capacity. It will be found well worth pe vusal.___ We have received the Report of the Minority of the Legislature of Virginia, approving the course of the Administration generally, and sus taining the Removal of the Deposites. It is a very long, ad captandum document. We shall Notice it again hereafter._ Considerable excitement prevails in relation to the re-nomination of the rejected Govern ment Directors of the Bank of the United States. The greatest exertions are now making throughout Virginia to re-hitch the Old Domi nion to the Executive car. The contest in \prU will be a close one. We make no predic tions. _____ The New Hampshire State Election, as usual, has resulted in the entire success of the Jackson ticket. There was no opposition candidate for Governor, &c. &c. _ Mr. B. W. Leigh is the special object of the abuse of yesterday’s Globe. This speaks much in favor of Mr. Leigh. _ Yesterday, being St. Patrick’s Day, the Hi bernian Society of this place, escorted by the Independent Volunteers, walked in procession to St. Mary’s Church, where a very handsome and appropriate address was delivered by the appointed Orator, the Rev. Mr. Ryder, of Georgetown College. The beautiful banner of the Society was borne in front of the proces sion. The ceremonies of the day were happi ly conducted, and every thing was favorable to the wishes of those engaged in the services of the occasion. The Legislature of Virginia adjourned on Friday last. Many of the members have pass ed through this place on their way home. We are sorry to state that yesterday’s mail brought additional accounts of distress and failures at the North. •__ A curious statement relative to a recent cir cumstance of a private nature, in which Mr. Amos Kendall figures, is now current in this District, and would seem to corroborate the impression that already prevails relative to the tearing out of leares of account books in the case of R. B. Randolph. The National Intelligencer says:—It gives us great pleasure to state that an act has just pass ed the Legislature of Maryland, making an ad ditional subscription, unconditional, to the stock of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, to the amount of One Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand Dollars, and a further addition al subscription to the same amount, to take ef fect whenever Congress shall subscribe an ad ditional Million of Dollars towards the same great national undertaking. A proposition has been brought forward in the Legislature of New York for the establish ment of a Bank in the City of New York, with a capital of Ten Millions of Dollars, to meet the capital that may be withdrawn by the wind ing up of the three branches of the U. S. Bank in that State. Mr. John Quincy Adams, in his remarks in the House of Representatives last Wednesday, *aid, among other things: “Ithas, indeed, been freelv surmised around this Capitol, and circulated in whispers within this Hall, that Congress itself is not to be indulg ed with a session unreasonably long; but, when the deliberations of the House shall be sufficient ly matured, according to the judgment of the Chairman of the Committee, then, by his fiat they are to cease, and as we have no* had exam ples sufficiently signalized with arbitrary pow pr, a disagreement is to be gotten up between the two Houses of Congress, in the result.of 'jfticb this House— the immediate representative Wdy of the whole People of this Union—is to he made the servile instrument of ministering to another exercise of royal prerogative. I am not disposed to give credit to idle rumors, of which, there are, no doubt, now, as at all times, many ia circulation without this House, and some times within it; but, from what I have seen and heard this morning, I cannot but cast, within myself, ominous conjectures upon the humilia ting uses, °f which this House is to be made the submissive instrument.” The Washington Correspondent of the New urk Courier says: The Committee on Elections, to whom was Referred the case of MrJLetcher and Mr. Moore, !ave not yet reported. There seems to be an ^pardonable degree of procrastination. Three months have elapsed, and no report has been Presented. This subject will produce a most '’ehement and bitter debate. The friends of Moore speak with entire confidence that committee will report in his favor. Con nected with this confident mode of expression, ere are some circumstances which have pro mced inquiry and examination. Let it be n°me in mind that the committee are acting solemnity of an oath; and yet it is ahl,j ^at a certain gentleman—who, at present, vo J,e naunless, but who is better known in C. Mr. LEIGH, Mr. FORSYTH, Mr. KING, Mr. Kane, Mr. Webster, and others, took part in the discussion—a further notice of which will be given hereafter.
