He is believed to be an unsuitable and improper nun in every respect. The President is understood to have devolved the whole responsibility of the appointment upon Mr.Forward. It belongs to him, as the head of the Treasury Department, and as Mr. F. is a cautious and di.-creei in.in, it is believed that no fears need be enteitained of his acting unwisely in the premises Tlr consequences of an injudicious selection might b very disastrous to the government, as well as to tli" Secretary individually. The character and stand ing of the agent should be such as to furnish a guarantee that the interests of the country are safe, and that every thing will he done fair and above board. There are men enough of this sort, who would undertake the business, and it is to be presumed that Mr. Forward will select from among them. The President has disapproved the sentence cf the. This is the reason j that so many continue on from month to monthx trying every silly remedy they hear of until they quite despair of ever getting well. Now% it is well known to ?'very real physician, that all the medicine in the world, alone, ran never cure a stricture, In proof of this, the writer solemnly declares he is frequently consulted by jmtsoii* who have been taking such things as colored drops and other boasted nostrums, for six and eren twelve months, without the least advantage, but whom he has perfectly cured in as many days, and by the most easy, safe, and f certain means. Is it nott then, most desirable that society, or those at least who are interested, should be acquainted with t these facts, and also have accers to knowledge of such a kind as I to enable them to iudge, and judge correctly t*o, of their own condition and complaint. And. not only will such knowledge save them great anxiety, but also serve them as la guard against the numerous little offices and boasting people of this city. To enable every individual, therefore, to judge for himself of the probability or possibility of stricture in his own case, is the main object of these remarks. But the symptoms of stricture, it would appear, are too nume j rous to m otion in this place it is fortunate, however, there are three of social import, and which, when present, will aloue at ford sufficient ground, at least, for strong suspicion and those who wish tor further information are referred to Th* t Private Treatise" of tho writer, a little vclurne which embraces cvcry disorder of ti?i* kind, and in which the inost cer- M tain and private means of curing tliein are stated in the plainest possible manner. This Is obtained only of the author, Dr. jj R-ilpli, 88 Greenwich street. Price The particular symptoms of Scricture, then, to be mentioned 4 n.-rr, are we following lliree, and tntac can be shortly stated. The first relates In I THE MANNER OF URINATING.?It i> not necessary that the stream should be sensibly im|>etled or broken, or much narrowed. These, indeed, occur in had cases, but in a slight or begiuiiitig one, llicy are frequently not present?all that is ob- f seised being a drop or two vi tiich steals away after the clothea are adjusted, so as to v.et a little. The next relates to? THE TIME THE OONORUIKKA HAS REMAINED UNCURED.?It is well known that the Stricture is llie/csult of a lingering, badly treated (Jonosticea. The average time of curing this disorder; at least in |Jie wtitera' practice, is ten days. I; is true, if seen early, he generally succeeds in three, days t and, on the other band, in certain unfaiii that hi- spirits an- not so good as formerly and that he is tes i capable of bluiness than he used to he.
