et Correspondence of The Tribune. Bartimorg, June 84 o'clock A.M. Important Movement in Tennessee. You kuew the difficulties which prevented the election of U.S. Senators by the late Legislature of Tennessee. The Whigs had three majority in the House, and the Loco-Focos one majority in the Senate. This gave the Whizs a majority on joint vote, and, therfore, if the election of U.S. Sena- tors had been entered into by joint ballot, as had been the practice since the admission of the State into the Union, Whigs would have been chosen. For this reason the Loco-Foco Senators refused to go into the election by joint ballot, and no election was made. Tennessez, in couscquence, Las no Senators in Congress The recusancy of the Lo- co-Foco State Senators (thirteen) caused, as may well be supposed, deep indignation throughout the State, and they have repeatedly attempted to ex plain or vindicate their conduct to the people. On the 10th of Feb. last the Loco Foco Members offered, through the newspapers, to submit the question to the people by resigning. lu the Nash- ville Banner of the 30th ult. 1s a response from the Whiz Members, stating that their vesignations have been drawn up, and will be sent im to the Gov: ernor as soen as those of the Loco-Foco Senators shall be in like manner tendered. Repuniation.—Thr Londons Morning Chroni- cle of the 21st ult. has the following paragraph: “It is gratifying to be able ta state, upon good authority, that the tone of public fecling in regard to the maintenance of State faith is of the most satisfactory character throughout Massachusetts, New-York, Virginia and South Carolina. Threugh- cut these important States the doctrine of Repu- dation’ is erred, in appropriate language, as a national disgrace, and the proceedings in Mis sissippi, Indiana and lliinois are held up to mer ited scorn and contempt. We expect that the general voice of their tellow-citizens in the States we have enumerated will be the means of indue- 1g the delinquent Legislatures to abandon then errors, and teach them the truth of the adage, that “honesty is the best policy.” ff the people of England be once satisfied that the Umted States are determined to adhere to that policy, and 10 submit to taxation in order to raise the funds ne- cessary to pay the interest on their subsisting en: gagements, the aversion with which every thing in the shape of American State Stocks is naw looked atin the European Money Market may gradually diminish. The Americans must rest assured that fulfilment of existing coutracts is an essential pre- liminary to mew negotiations,” a A Bripzerooy Kitten. —=Me John B. Davie of Danville.
