Dr. SANFORD’S Improved Powder of the Bark having been used and highly approved by many physicians of distinguished character, in different parts of the United States, the proprietor is encourag ed to offer it to the Faculty in general, under the persuasion that no practitioner of taste, in the choice of his means, cannot fail to be gra tified in the use of this elegant preparation. In strength, fineness, and certainty of opera tion, it greatly surpasses the Bark in common use. ALSO, THE ESSEyU'L SALT OF BARK, firefiared by the same. The above articles are put up in parcels of different sizes, to accommodate the usual wants of not only Physicians, but of Retail Druggists, Country Merchants and Private Familes; and is sold in Charleston by Messrs. E. Morford, Willington U Co g accompanied with the Propretor’s Essay, on all the different inds of Peruvian Bark now used in the United Stages. Extract from the Medical U Philosophical Re gister, No. 4, Vol. 2, published by Dr. Ho sack. Professor of the Theory and Practice of Physic in the University of New York. In our present number, may be found a very interesting communication on the medical virtues of the Peruvian and other Barks. It is with great satisfaction we state, that the author of that paper, Dr. Sandford, after more than twenty five years observation on the ef fects of Bark as a medicine, and no less than ten years attention to the different methods of ni eparing it, has at length formed an esta bli hment, at Greenwich, (Con.) with the view of furnishing the profession with the several species of genuine Peruvian Bark, in the states of an Essential Salt, Powder, &c. On a circumstance of so great importance, we cannot but congratulate the community at lai ge, upon whose confidence and support Dr. Sandford is justly entitled to the strongest claims March 22— JUST PUBLISHED, ALLEN’S MAP OF CANADA, accompanied sr A PAMPHLET, Describing that Country. Gales, IMTITLtD The Carolina Law Repository. The primary design of this work, is to con vey to every part of the state early intelligence of the c-ses adjudged in the Supreme Court, and abstracts of the Public Laws passed at each session of the Legislature. One number will therefore be pubtshed on the first of March, and another on the first of September in each year, just before the commencement of the circuits; so that the Profession, and the citizens in general, may be apprized of the progressive change and exposition of the law, soon after they respectively occur, and at a time when such information is most desi rable. But the plan will also comprehend a variety of subjects connected with Legal and general Political Science, which, it is hoped, will render the work instructive and entertain ing, not merely to the practising Lawyer and the Student, but also to the Legislator and in telligent Citizen, who desires to contemplate, in their origin, spiiit and effect, those princi ples of Legal Polity and Civil Freedom which form the basis of our own admirable institu tions. Hence, each number will contain select Biography of eminent Judges and Lawyers—Extracts from s^rce and valuable publications—Opinions of foreign Jurists upon cases sent from Virginia and North Carolina before the Revolution, never before published —A’guments and Opinions of Judges and Counsel in important cases—and such Essays as have a tendency to enlighten the progress of Public Sentiment on certa n projected alte rations of the Law, particularly that deeply interesting topic, the reformation of the Cri minal Code. Speeches of merit on subjects of permanent interest, discussed in the Legisla ture, will occasionally be inserted. Conditions—Each number will contain from 140 to 160 octavo pages, printed on fine medium paper, and with an elegant new type, cast in Philadelphia for the work. The price w U be one dollar and fifty cents per number, four of which will form a volume- Each num ber to be paid for on delivery The first number is in the press, and will be published on the first of March. Subscriptions received by the Publisher and other Booksellers, and by Gentlemen of the Bar in whose bands the Prospectus has been placed. Jan 14 ajp The first number of the above work is published, and may be had at the book store of R. C Weightman. April 13.
