Georgetown, October 27— HYGEIA ACADEMY. 'TpHE public are info; med, that pursuant to i an act of the Virgl ia Legisla ure, g vlng authority to certain Commissioners to sell the Public Buildings formerly occupied by the Dis trict Court a’ Haymarket, in the conn y of Prince Wi’dihm Virginia, a purchase of said buildings has been made by an association of gentlemen, with a view to convert them into a Seminary of learning; for the government whereof, a number of the most respectable persons in the adjoining counties have been regularly constituted a board of Trustees, and having been thus duly appointed and institut ed, the Trustees have proceeded to the alte ration and repairs of the Buildings, which are now in readiness for the accommoda ion of more than 100 Students. They have engaged a Professor of the Dead Languages and Belle Lettres, and one of the Mathematics and high er branches, both gentlemen of liberal edit cation snd experience as Teachers. The course of education will comprehend all the branches of Litera ure as pursued in the Eas tern Colleges, (it being intended to apply speedily for an act of incorporation) instituting the seminary a regular College The Trustees have likewise engaged a gentlem n of the first respectability and moral character, to act as Steward and fake charge of the Boarding De partment On this account they will have it in their power to regulate the price of Board at the lowest rate, and further, will be ena bled to confine the Students to the observance of regular hours, and of all the rules of the Institution Ihe School will he opened on the first of J anuary ensuing. Of this situation it may be confidently said, that no place in the Union combines a greater variety of important adva tages for the above mentioned object The respectability and mo ral habits of the neighborhood, the uncommon healthfullnes of the place itself, its contiguity to rich firms, whose superfluity of the best meats all other desirable articlesof living, must reduce the cost, whilst it increases the com fort of board, added to the circumstance of its being under the fostering care of well fitted persons immediately in the neighborhood whose duty and interest must alike prompt them to a solicitous attention to its welfare, leave nothing to be desired by Parents who feel a natural regard for the future advance ment and prosperity of their Sons.
