The Bangor Whig says another detachment of the Jameson Guards has been mustered iu, also that a new uniform has been adopted. It consists of a dark blue dress coat and pants, trimmed with buff. The Whig says early Monday morning the body of a man was found in the river at Frost's boon, near Frost’s wliarf in Hamp den. The body was that of a man between 2d and 30 years of age, and had apparently been in the water a long time, as it was in an advanced state of decomposition. It was dressed in a white cotton-wool undershirt, black and white striped woolen outside shirt —the stripes running around the body—grey mixed cotton and wool pants, blue woolen socks and Oxford tie shoes. The arms and hands were tatooed in India ink as follows on the right arm the letters I. H. S", and two American flags surmounted by an eagle; around the wrist a wreath; on the hand, be tween the thumb and forefinger, an anchor; on the left arm, the letters “H. Conference concluded its sessions in this city yesterday. After the 8 o’clock prayer meeting, the morning sermon was preached by the Rev. B. A. llobie ot Waterville, from I Cor. 3:9 "Ye are God's building.” It was an excellent unfolding of the spiritual temple of religious character. At 104 o’clock the order of the day was taken up for discussion vix: “The Baptism of the Holy Spirit—the method, conditions and evidences of its bestowment.” liev. Dr. Bingham led the discussion, followed by the Revs, Park and Baker, Deas. Metcalf and others. The afternoon service consisted of a sermon by the Rev. FORTY-FIRST CONGRESS. Washington, June 15. Sexatk. The bill confirming the title of Mr*. Harriet Parker to two guano islamb* in the Pacific Ocean, discovered by her late hus band. was passed, and then the franking hill was proceeded w ith. and after a long discus sion Senate adjourned. IIocsk. The House resumed considera tion of the resolution in regard to Cuba, nnd was addressed by Mr. Wood, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, who said he had not supported cither report, and did not think that either gave any practical or! substantial aid to the Cuban cause. He! thought it a very singular circumstance that the gentleman from Mass., (Butler) who had been instructed to inquire into the premature! publication of the report of the Gold Invest! gation Committee, should have extended that I inquiry without authority, into the issue and I use of Cuban bond*, and the President in his recent message should have taken up the same point. Mr. Butler stated that the public statement upon the Cuban bonds, did not come from any information obtained from his Commit-, tee. Mr. Banks asked his colleague if he had not exhibited the Cuban bonds to all the, members of the House. Mr. Butler replied that he exhibited a half a dozen Cuban bonds taken from the pocket t of a reporter of a city newspaper, by paying! him fifteen cents on a dollar for them. Mr. Banks asked his colleague further, why he had not made his report, having had the subject under consideration for nearly i three months. Mr. Butler replied that he had brought be- fore the Judiciary Committee, tflk question of compelling the Attorney of the Cubans to! disclose the contract under which two millions of bonds had been deposited, and the ques tion was still before the Committee. Mr. Eldridge of Wis., objected to the dis closure of the matter before the Committee. I and the Speaker sustained the objection. In conclusion Mr. Wood recapitulated at considerable length, the reasons in which lie said he found more than justification for the recognition of Cuban belligerency. He argued that the United States would he justified in demanding of Spain antonomy for Cuba, like that which England grants Canada and all her colonies, or as an alter native, that she relinquish at once her claim j to the Island, which at best cannot long be maintained. Mr. Williard. another meml>er of the Com- t mittee, next addressed the House in opposi- I tion to the resolution of the majority. He indicated the strength of the insurgent cause, and said that the object of those who were 1 pressing the matter upon Congress, was that they might l>e able to Sell Cuban bonds. He thought if any lesson had been burned into' the very heart and mind of the American people by the late rebellion, it was that they should mind their own business. He com-1 mented on the fact that the head and front of1 what was left of the Cuban rebellion, was an Ex-Confederate General, who had been lob bying on the floor of the House, and who as stated by his principal newspaper organ in New York, approached over one hundred! members on the subject, ami received but one repulse from the gentleman from Mass. Mr. Williard defended the President and his message, and sustained the course of Secre tary Fish, concluding with an appeal to the House, not to be drawn into any quixotic cn terprize by Cuban bonds and Cuban agents, in New York and Washington. Mr. Butler spoke at some length against the resolution. Mr. Logan of 111., replied to Mr. Butler in a very animated manner. After a long discussion, without action, the House adjourned. i The resolution will be brought up to-mor row as unfinished business. FROM WASHINGTON. Wasmsoton, June 15. Commodore O. S.
