The latter meeting w as taken up in the formation of a protec tive union, so as to insure continued unity of action. S.lJffITIFIED GI V.WAMDIXG. A dry goods merchant in Philadelphia has been in the iiabit, for a number of years past, of putting tracts and religious books into his hales and packages of goods when he sends them to his customers. While traveling in Ohio lately, he stopped at a village over the Sabbath, and visited the Sabbath school in the place. The su perintendent asked him to address the children, which he did. In the course of his remarks lie spoke of his habit of plac ing tracts and religious books in cases ot dry goods, before sending them away. Alter the school was dismissed the superin tendent asked him if he remembered send ing a pack of goods to him niue years be fore, in which lie put a religious book ad dressed to his wife. She read the book, and (iod blessed it to her conversion. That wife, said he, has gone to join the countless throng around the throne of God in heaven. In the same box, said the su perintendent, was a tract. It lay about the store for some time, and finally was brushed down among some waste paper. Ilis clerk was going out on a gunning ex cursion one day, and picked up some of tlie waste paper for wadding for his gun, among which was the tract. When out iu the woods, he took out his wadding, and ids attention was arrested by the tract. He read it; religious anxiety was awaken ed, and he never found peace till he found it in bcliet ing in Jesus. And in this great revival that man has been a burning and a shining light, laboring continually to win souls to Christ. The book, said the superintendent, has been lent, going from hand to hand, and only the Judgment Pay will reveal the good which it has done.— Messenger. It I II s Vegetable Cough Cordial!
