_ Special Dispatch From a Staff Correspondent of the Post-Dispatch. DETROIT, Mich., Sept. 8—Miss Maybelle Millman, the ‘‘Col- _ jege Widow,’’ knowh to thousands of students at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, died in a physician’s office in this city _ and her body was dismembered and thrown into Ecorse Creek to "| hide another crime. This is the theory on which detectives are at ' work in an effort to sqlve the murder mystery. Sheriff Gaston has asked the Postoffice Department at Wash- _ ington for permission to examine the postal records. He believes ; ‘that the money that defrayed Miss Millman’s expenses on the trip _ to Detroit was sent to her in a registered letter and if this is true eS ‘the records will show who induced the girl to come tp this city. — it ts known that Miss Millman re-|trip.
