The Galaxy Magazine (March, 1870)
William C. Church & Francis P. Church (Editors)
A single issue of The Galaxy , from a bound volume, published in March, 1870 (Volume 9, Number 3). Published at this point by the Connecticut firm Sheldon & Company, edited by brothers William C. Church and Francis P. Church. Includes several portions of serialized longer works, some poetry, essays, and a number of monthly miscellaneous columns in the endmatter. I've also included a plate, which was bound in as the frontis, but which apparently was intended for the prior issue (Number 2, page 159). Rather than try to re-collate the whole volume (some of which is missing), I have included it here where it was found. Scanned at 600dpi, 24-bit color, algorithmically deskewed and then manually cropped. As always, I have not provided OCR text; that has been generated automatically by the upload server. My goal with these scans is to provide sufficiently clean pages for manual proofreading of OCRed pages by human folks.
