Drome is a fantasy novel by John Martin Leahy (1886-1967) in which two explorers travel miles beneath Mount Rainier and discover a strange underground world called Drome. It is home to a lost civilization that may be the progenitors of ancient Greek culture and is filled with fantastic animals, including bat-apes, snake-cats, and tree-octopuses. This is a scan of the original version of the story, a five-part serial as published in Weird Tales , January to May 1927, with illustrations. Drome was later published in book form in hardcover in 1952 by Fantasy Publishing Company. The 1952 version has some differences from the pulp original (a preface, footnotes, and some casual references in the main text to atom-bombs and television). I used Adobe Acrobat to create a navigation pane for the .pdf and bookmarked the chapters for ease of access. With the touch of your mouse pointer, you can instantly go to any chapter in the story.
