Boston Celtics fantasy basketball discussion is front and center, with detailed analysis on player values, projected rotations, and how offseason changes—including the addition of Paul George and departure of Jaylen Brown—impact draft strategy and player upside. I dig into specific ADPs, projected starting roles, and deep-league stashes, separating the real opportunities from the offseason hype.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
• Do not overrate Payton Pritchard’s breakout potential; his best opportunity was last season, and adding both Jayson Tatum and Paul George means less upside as usage drops even if he starts. • Paul George is significantly undervalued at his present ADP (often in the 70s-100s); with a clean bill of health, a rested offseason, and likely a bigger offensive role, he offers top-40, possibly top-30, per-game upside if he plays enough games. • Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury is not a concern going into the season; I’m comfortable drafting him at spot 6, 7, or 8 in both Yahoo and ESPN leagues. • Derrick White’s value is solid but not spectacular; expect a move from a number 2 to a number 3 scoring option, so don’t reach if his ADP creeps into the mid-30s, and ignore ESPN’s unrealistically high category rank at 17. • Center rotation questions (Neemias Queta vs. Mitchell Robinson) matter mainly for deep leagues; Queta is a safer fantasy play, but neither offers upside, and Robinson is more of a streaming specialist. • Ignore preseason hype on Sam Hauser or Bayless Scheierman unless you’re in a deep league; even if one starts, minutes and production will likely be limited. • The Celtics’ deep roster means a 10-man rotation is likely, capping upside for breakout candidates and affecting waiver streaming in standard-sized leagues.
