___
High inside the Great Pyramid, more than forty meters above the ground, nine granite beams span a plain stone room — each one as heavy as a loaded lorry or more. Above them sit five more chambers, roofed with still more granite. All of it was cut in a quarry nearly nine hundred kilometers away. No Old Kingdom text describes how any of it was lifted into place, and the answer is still being argued over today.
Settle in, get comfortable, and drift off while we explore ancient Egypt.
