Episode The Kidnapping of Betty Ann Lake

0:00 15:00

On the morning of January 6, 1936, near the tiny settlement of Pacific Junction in New Brunswick, Canada, a woodcutter named Otto Blakeney saw smoke over the snowy horizon. He trudged through the woods and was shocked to discover a burned out cabin-- and the bodies of Philip Lake, his wife, and their infant son.

But not all members of the Lake family were accounted for; missing was the Lake's five-month-old daughter, Betty Ann. This is the true tale of one of Canada's strangest-- and most infamous- kidnapping cases.
