Episode #468 - Joby Martin // It’s Not About You
We open Philippians 2 and get painfully honest about what happens when we keep making life about ourselves instead of the interests of Jesus Christ. We draw a straight line from self-focus to self-loathing, then call each other to surrender that leads to real joy and purpose. • reading Philippians 2:17–21 and highlighting Paul’s warning about self-interest • putting it plainly that life is not about us even though God is for us • asking whether we primarily seek our own interests • connecting constant self-reflection to self-loathing and burnout • reframing identity as a bit player in God’s redemptive narrative • applying servant leadership through the shepherd and sheep picture • contrasting “Here am I, send me” with “Here am I, bless me” • fixing our eyes on Jesus and learning His interests through Scripture Before you go, if you want to help equip other men for the fight, share this podcast around and leave us a five star rating and review.

Shows are listed from Apple Podcasts' charts and directory, and Podcast Index where it is used. Every show and episode belongs to its publisher and plays from the publisher's own feed; this site hosts none of them. Explicit shows are for adult profiles only, and children’s profiles hear only children’s shows. More about this list.
