Episode Balancing Public Duty and Personal Life: Lessons from Surah At-Tahrim | Friday Khutbah
n this Khutbah, recorded during his trip to Ontario, Canada last week, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan discusses insights from Surah At-Tahrim. The Surah opens and closes by addressing the Prophet ﷺ and the Ummah, respectively, highlighting the importance of balancing public duties and personal life. Ustadh Nouman recounts an episode from the Prophet's ﷺ marital life, where his preference for one wife sparked discontent among others. The wives' complaint about honey's unpleasant odor led the Prophet ﷺ to initially abstain, but Allah's guidance clarified that lawful pleasures shouldn't be forsaken for others' approval. The key lesson, Ustadh explains, is that our actions should be guided by Allah's laws rather than just to please our family or society. This teaches us to establish personal boundaries and not be swayed by others' manipulation. ------------------------------ 📚 Start your Quran journey at https://www.bayyinahtv.com 🎁 Over 50,000 students are waiting for a gift sponsorship to study the Quran on Bayyinah TV.
