Episode #33 - Cory Neill - The Weight of War: Cory Neill Reflects on Afghanistan and PTSD
In this powerful episode of 2 Worlds Collide, I’m joined by Cory Neill—a former infantry paratrooper and combat first aider who shares his incredible story of courage, service, and resilience.
Cory takes us back to his deployment to Afghanistan in 2012, recounting the harrowing events of August 29th—a tragic green-on-blue attack at Patrol Base Wahab that claimed the lives of three Australian soldiers: Private Robert Poate, Lance Corporal Rick Milosevic, and Sapper James Martin. As a first responder, Cory reflects on the chaos of that night, the bonds forged in war, and the lasting impact it has had on his life.
We also explore Cory’s journey after service, including his battle with PTSD and memory loss, and his ongoing efforts to heal and honour the legacy of those who sacrificed everything.
As your host, Sam Bamford, I’m humbled to share this raw and honest conversation—a tribute to the fallen and a testament to the resilience of those who carry their stories forward.
