Episode #82 Cadel Evans - Australia's Greatest & Most Decorated Cyclist
This week Brian and Harrison kick things off with some of the usual chit-chat, they discuss; 'Chocco' (survey comp. winner) coming to pick up sticks in Lorne, the AFLs sale of Waverley Park, AFL State of Origin (again), the NBA Finals, Tour de France predictions, 'CHAT-BT' and plenty more.
Joining them on the mic this week is Australia's greatest and most decorated cyclist of all-time, Cadel Evans. Simply put, Cadel epitomises the unrelenting Aussie grit and grind character that so many world class Australian athletes are known for. His path to success was met with countless obstacles and setbacks, but through extreme determination, attention to the details and immense self-belief, he 'climbed the mountain', so to speak on countless occasions.
His 20 year career on the bike (both Mountain and Road) is something to behold, from the youngest winner of a MTB World Cup race to the oldest post-war winner of the Tour de France (1 of 3 non-Europeans), he's filled his trophy cabinet: UCI World Race Champion, 4x Olympian, 2x World MTB Champ., 2x Tour de France Runner-Up and I can go on, but above all else, Cadel has an immense level of respect and admiration from his peers and is a true Australian treasure.
He was counted out and overlooked on numerous occasions and competed in one of cycling's darkest periods, but he always stayed his course and remained a man of extreme integrity and commendable willpower. We loved this chat with Cadel and we hope you do as well!
