Episode #134 Max Gawn - AFL Superstar
This week Brian and Harrison intro the show by covering all the major topics in their lives and within the AFL, including; Ken Hinkley to Tassie, Bobby Hill departing the Pies, Crows fans booing Isaac Quaynor, Glasgow Comm. Games, LeBron James to Philly, VIC teachers strike, what Brian thinks about on his daily walk, and plenty more.
Their guest this week is Melbourne Demons skipper Max Gawn. An AFL premiership captain, 8x All-Australian, 3x club best & fairest, co-host of the Stanley St Social cycling podcast and one of the most down-to-earth blokes in elite sport, Max is as genuine as they come.
The conversation goes in every direction. The boys dive into Max's passion for cycling and the Tour de France. They also get into the AFL media landscape, with Max sharing an honest player's perspective on commentators, and personalities like BT. He explains why he thinks the AFL still has work to do in embracing player personalities and what other sports are getting right.
Max reflects on his own journey too, from the setbacks early in his career to becoming one of the competition's most respected leaders. He speaks openly about resilience, leadership, gratitude and why he believes getting comfortable with 'being yourself’ is one of the best ways to grown and off the field.
The boys also discuss life after football, Max's future in the media, and what continues to motivate him after achieving almost everything the game has to offer.
Funny, self-aware, and refreshingly honest, Max is outstanding throughout, we thank him for his time.
