WAW POLITRICKS | #RIP TERROR LEKOTA; IRAN WAR; MBEKI & TRC PROSECUTIONS; MKP & ANC IN KZN

7 Mar 2026 · 1 h 29 min · Episode 187

This week on WAW PoliTricks, we unpack some of the biggest political stories shaping South Africa and the world right now.

We remember the life and legacy of veteran politician and liberation struggle stalwart Ntate Mosiua “Terror” Lekota, reflecting on his journey from Robben Island prisoner to Defence Minister and opposition leader.

Did President Thabo Mbeki’s administration orchestrate a “deeply unlawful” moratorium on TRC prosecutions, effectively creating a backdoor amnesty for apartheid-era perpetrators?

We also break down the impact of tensions in the Gulf and the war involving Iran.

Back home, another deadly building collapse raises serious questions about safety regulations, municipal oversight and why these tragedies keep catching authorities by surprise.

We also examine reports that the MK Party in KwaZulu-Natal is reaching out to the ANC about a possible coalition, while government has approved an operational plan for the SANDF to assist SAPS in tackling high levels of crime.

Politics, power and perspective — this is WAW PoliTricks.
