In this episode of the Mic On Podcast, Seun Okinbaloye sits with President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who assesses the Tinubu administration’s claim of an “age of prosperity” and the realities facing Nigerian workers.

Ajaero criticizes the implementation of the minimum wage and says the government has failed to meet key commitments made to labour after the fuel subsidy removal. He also calls for increased domestic refining to reduce fuel prices and warns about declining purchasing power.

Looking ahead to 2027, Ajaero says the NLC will not endorse any presidential candidate but expects politicians seeking workers’ support to understand their struggles. He also urges the Tinubu administration to rebuild trust with organised labour.
