Send us Fan Mail
In this our second whale themed podcast from the Batt Cave, we start with a rendition of 'Tohorā nui' - a popular children's waiata from Aotearoa,New Zealand about a whale..... Batt lamb learns a lot of whale facts!
Then Tanya shares the story of Natsilane and the creation of the Orca, a traditional tale from the Tlingit and Haida peoples of the North West Pacific coast of the Americas.
By the way the carving by sailors on whales teeth and bones is called Scrimshaw and while the Hauraki (home to Waiheke Island where we live) does have a population of Bryde's whale, they can also be found in other parts of the world.
