يُعد المسلسل الإذاعي "ألف ليلة وليلة" من أبرز الأعمال التراثية التي خلدها الأثير المصري، وهو معالجة درامية لحكايات كتاب "ألف ليلة وليلة" الشهير، الذي يضم مزيجاً ساحراً من القصص والأساطير الشعبية القادمة من أعماق الحضارات الشرقية، العربية والفارسية والهندية والمصرية.
تدور الحكاية الإطارية حول الملك شهريار وزوجته الحكيمة شهرزاد، التي تنقذ نفسها من الموت الليلي عبر سرد سلسلة من الحكايات المشوقة، دون أن تُكملها حتى الفجر، مما يدفع الملك إلى تأجيل إعدامها ليلة بعد ليلة، ليستمر هذا السرد لألف ليلة وليلة.
المسلسل الإذاعي أعاد إحياء هذه الروائع بأسلوب درامي ممتع، يجمع بين الشعر والنثر، والغموض والموعظة، وتميز بأداء صوتي مبدع وموسيقى تصويرية خالدة ظلت محفورة في وجدان المستمعين لعقود.
