Het is duidelijk dat zelfs zijn partijgenoten in snelheid gepakt werden: "Ik zat in een televisiestudio met Axel Ronse. Die moest de noodzaak van een btw-verhoging komen uitleggen. Hij heeft er die uitzending niet meer over gepiept."
