Episode Episode 269 w/ Damien Dempsey
Legend of the Irish music scene Damien Dempsey joined us for a sing song this week. In between songs, we talked about the resurgence in Gaelic culture among young Irish people and how important the old ballads have been to him since he was a young child.
He told us how music kept him connected to his father after his passing and opened up his spirituality, and his visions of flying over Connemara on an eagles back…
We learned how he ended up performing at a prison in The Phillipines, he told us about a music session so good it made Bruce Springsteen miss a flight, and explained why in spite of his cult following Damo doesn’t consider himself famous, or even want fame.
