Photography is drawing with light, and photography gear is simply the tools we use to capture that light and take photos.

Yes, it is that simple. Well, it should be that simple. Think of photography gear as tools, and you are on the right track. Camera bodies, lenses, bags, tripods, and a whole load of other stuff can help us take photos.

But how can they help us? And what can they help us to do?

In this episode, I tell you.

• The criteria for buying new gear. Again. • Why the camera body doesn’t matter as much as you might have thought. • What crop factor means but why you don’t need to worry about this too much. • Some specific examples of how gear helps me take photos. • What if I use a phone to take photos and not a camera? • What if I use a film camera? Ok, albeit briefly. • And finally, what I do.

All explained in plain English, without the irrelevant detail, in less than 27 (ish) minutes!
