Episode Should The Mets MOVE ON From Francisco Álvarez? | Straight Outta Flushing
Is Francisco Álvarez still the Mets’ long-term answer behind the plate?
Dexter Henry and Tyler Ward continue their Mets roster evaluation series on Straight Outta Flushing by examining New York’s catching situation. They grade the Álvarez–Luis Torrens tandem, assess Álvarez’s offensive upside and debate whether Torrens deserves a larger role in 2027.
Plus, they explore potential free-agent and trade options and what an outside addition would need to provide to justify the cost. Should the Mets keep their current tandem, give Torrens more starts or make a change at catcher?
