Els Clottemans, maestra elementare, e Els Van Doren, gioielliera, sposata e madre di due figli, hanno lo stesso nome, sono buone amiche e frequentano con entusiasmo lo stesso club di paracadutismo.
Hanno anche un’altra cosa in comune: sono entrambe innamorate dello stesso uomo, il loro istruttore di lancio Marcel Somers.
Una mattina di novembre, i tre si apprestano a saltare. Il paracadute di Els Van Doren, però, non si apre. La tragedia è inevitabile. Qualcuno ha manomesso le cinghie del paracadute.
