Episode John Arlott, Tim Key, & 9/11 – A new anthology of cricket poetry, TFW Book Club
Cricket attracts romantics. Whatever the form, so much of the game’s prose is dedicated to reflection and understanding. Whilst many fine writers have penned creative words, poetry isn’t as strongly associated. Catching The Light, compiled by authors Nick Hogg and Tim Beard, spans a wide range of contributors, from England’s John Arlott to Guyana’s John Agard, through to Tim Key and Zaffar Kunial of the modern day. From the joy of taking a single catch to references to the 9/11 terror attacks, the subjects are diverse and intriguing. Publisher Matt Thacker, the brains behind the idea for the collection, joins Geoff Lemon.
