Industrial Engineering and Operations Research
Prof. Uday Shanker Dixit · IIT Guwahati
About
The course on Industrial Engineering and Operations Research aims at foundational understanding of optimizing manufacturing and service operations. It covers key topics like Production Planning and Control, inventory management and manufacturing strategies including supply chain management. Students will learn quality control techniques, forecasting, and Industry 4.0 applications with IoT and data analytics. The course also introduces operations research methods such as linear programming, transportation and network flow models, providing tools for effective decision-making and process improvement.
Intended audience: UG and PG students of Mechanical/Production/Industrial/Electrical/Electronics/Chemical/Civil Engineering. However, UG and PG students of any branch of engineering, science, mathematics and management can register in this course, provided they have the knowledge of mathematics up to 10+2 level.
Prerequisites: Basic concepts of Mathematics (up to class 10, up to class 12 preferred)
