About

During the nineteenth century, Great Britain and Russia engaged in what was termed the 'Great Game', which were confrontations in Central Asia and particularly on the north-west frontier of India. At the same time, they confronted each other over the 'Eastern Question' in the Mediterranean region, which was largely concerned with a declining Ottoman Empire. This lecture looks at the conflict between the two expanding empires.
