About
Status of the Ethernet Receivers at ASTRON At ASTRON we are developing White Rabbit–enabled Ethernet receivers in which the ADC is located close to the antenna. Two receiver types are under development: a low-frequency receiver with bandwidths up to 100 MHz, and a high-bandwidth receiver exceeding 1 GHz. Initial prototypes are operational and able to stream antenna data, providing a basis for evaluating the architecture in the context of radio astronomy systems. Development is ongoing, with several subsystems still under integration. This presentation reports the current status of both receiver variants. For the low-band receiver, the Ethernet streaming chain is functional and supports continuous data transport to backend servers. Integration of White Rabbit time synchronization is still under development, and the current implementation therefore operates without phase- or time-aligned sampling. For the high-bandwidth receiver, the hardware design has been completed and production is planned. Firmware development is in progress, following a staged port from the Real Digital RFSoC4x2 platform to an Enclustra-based system and subsequently to the ASTRON-developed FUNAR board incorporating an Enclustra RFSoC module.
