About
The Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) is a multi-billion-dollar Project with the scope of building the most unique collider facility in the word serving critical needs of the world-wide scientific mission. The EIC will be the only collider in US in the next decade/s and it is planning to advance accelerator and detector technologies for future facilities. Key challenges of managing a multi-billion-dollar accelerator-based Project such as EIC include orchestrating complexity, adapting to unexpected issues, managing multiple stakeholders and coordinating vast teams. Currently, the EIC has received a strong support in the scientific community, it is increasing international engagement, and it is planning to start major construction in 2026, after the end of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) operation at BNL. The EIC baseline preparation requires to apply efficient project management best practices as well as a rigorous approach to monitoring the progress of the design and system engineering activities.
