Summary:
These four lectures are meant to present an overview of particle physics based on its historical evolution over the past century. It will be show how concepts have evolved following progress in instrumentation and in theoretical ideas, from atoms to the elementary particles and their interactions, as they are known today. In the end, it will be shown how particle physics can be used to describe the evolution of the early universe.
Prerequisite knowledge:
Basic concepts of classical mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism and optics.
