Practice Makes Progress
Solve the given equation for \(x\):
\(-11 + 3x = -44\)
\(5 - 13x = 70\)
\(\dfrac{x}{2} + \dfrac{2}{3} = \dfrac{4}{7}\)
\(\dfrac{x}{5} - \dfrac{9}{2} = -\dfrac{5}{3}\)
\(11x + 10 = 19x + 20\)
\(7x + 11 = 16 - 18x\)
\(2(6 - 2x) - (4x - 9) = 9\)
\(2x - 2(4 - 9x) = 8(6x + 2)\)
In this section, you practiced:
- Applying order of operations to simplify expressions
- Combining like terms
- Solving linear equations of a single variable with integer coefficients
- Solving linear equations of a single variable with fraction coefficients
From the list of skills above:
- I can complete these independently without notes:
- I can complete these, but need to reference an example or other resource to help:
- I don’t understand these yet:
It’s okay to not be fully confident with every skill yet! But it’s essential to continue making progress. Identify at least one step you will take to improve your understanding of the topics you listed in parts 2 or 3 above:
- Visit the math lab
- Contact my instructor
- Re-work practice problems
- Ask a classmate or friend for help
