11.2: Conflict, Dialogue, and Restorative Practices in Groups - Classroom Activity

    “From Conflict to Restoration”

    Purpose:
To help learners identify sources of group conflict and practice conflict transformation and restorative dialogue strategies.

    Time: 5 minutes
    Activity Steps:

    1. Present a Scenario (1 minute)
      Share the following example:
“A group project team has conflict because two members feel they are doing most of the work, while another member feels their ideas are being ignored.”
    2. Small-Group Reflection (2 minutes)
      Ask students to discuss:

What are the possible sources of conflict in this situation?

How might each person’s perspective or needs contribute to the conflict?

What questions could be asked to begin a restorative dialogue?

    1. Restorative Response Sharing (2 minutes)
Invite students to share one response using restorative practice principles:

    What happened?

    Who was affected?

What needs to happen to repair the situation?

How can the group move forward together?
