    2.4: Al passo coi tempi

Una piccola città, ma con una grande personalità

Italy is a country where every city has a story, and every name often does as well. In this section, you will explore how cities across Italy differ in size, region, and personality, and how they shape both local and national identity through culture, history, and everyday life. You will learn to describe cities and people with vivid and meaningful adjectives, and practice creating your own short descriptions of Italian places.

You will also uncover the stories hidden in Italian last names, many of which originate from physical traits, geographic locations, professions, or family history. Just like cities, names can reveal where someone comes from, what their ancestors did, or how they were perceived by others. By exploring Italian cities and surnames together, you will begin to see how language, culture, and identity are closely connected, and reflect on the story your own name might tell.
