Repasamos (we review) las vocales (vowels):

Hay cinco (5) vocales en el español que a veces se pronuncian de maneras diferentes.

    We're reviewing the vowels:

There are five vowels in Spanish that are sometimes pronounced in different ways.

    A a

(sounds like the English "aha!" or "ah")

adiós, agua, hasta (la h es muda)

    E e

    (sounds like the English "Led")

    ése, entre, elefante

    O o

    (sounds like the English "dodo")

    pronto, ojo, hola

    I i

(sounds like the English "e" in "evil," or the English "ee")

    sí, interesante, mi

    U u*

(sounds like the English "u" in "dude")

    usted, uno, muy
*Recuerde que la <u> no se pronuncia en las combinaciones: gue, gui, que, qui (ver §2). Remember that the "u" is silent en the combinations: que, qui, gue, gui.
