    14.1: Universal Basic Income --Readings

This unit introduces and explores the concept of universal basic income. The supplemental basic info sheet gives some background information for students. The reading is the Congressional Quarterly 2020 report “Universal Basic Income,” by Lorna Collier. The activity is a debate in which students must argue both for and against implementation of UBI, regardless of their personal opinions. The supplemental classroom atmosphere exercise helps to establish a supportive classroom environment for exploring multiple viewpoints. The reading and debate, ideally supplemented by additional articles, lead to an essay assignment.
