    2.3.3: Geometric Constraints in Inventor

Inventor provides geometric constraints to define relationships between sketch elements:

    • Coincident: Ensures two points or a point and a line remain connected.
    • Collinear: Forces two lines to lie on the same axis.
    • Parallel: Keeps two lines equidistant along their length.
    • Perpendicular: Ensures two lines intersect at 90 degrees.
    • Horizontal/Vertical: Aligns lines along the X or Y axis.
    • Equal: Forces two entities to have the same size.
    • Symmetric: Maintains symmetry across a centerline.
    • Tangent: Ensures a curve touches a line or another curve at a single point.
    Exercise \(\PageIndex{}\)

💡 Exercise: Apply each constraint to a sketch and observe how modifying one feature affects the entire design
