Opening the book…
Animal health and behavior are inseparable components of successful animal production systems. Disease prevention, proper diagnosis, and strong herd health programs must be combined with an understanding of animal behavior and stress responses. By integrating these areas, producers can improve animal welfare, enhance productivity, and protect public health.
Animal health and behavior are deeply interconnected:
- Poor handling → stress → weakened immunity → disease
- Good management → reduced stress → improved health and productivity
Thus, effective animal management requires both medical knowledge and behavioral understanding.
