Computing Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)
The mean arterial pressure is the average pressure in the arteries over one cardiac cycle. MAP is a better indicator of blood flow to vital organs than systolic blood pressure alone. A normal MAP is typically above 65 mmHg to ensure adequate organ perfusion. A MAP below 60 mmHg can signal inadequate blood flow and a risk of organ damage.
\(\displaystyle MAP = \frac{\text{Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP)+2} × {\text{Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP)}}}{3}\)
Record Computed Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) = _______________ mm Hg
