Illustrated by Jules Gondry · Translated by René de Clercq · Translated by Richard Delbecq
"De legende en de heldhaftige, vroolijke en roemrijke daden van Uilenspiegel en Lamme Goedzak" by Charles De Coster is a novel published in 1867. This reimagining of the Till Eulenspiegel folk tales transforms the medieval German prankster into a Flemish hero fighting Spanish oppression during the Dutch Revolt. When his father is burned at the stake by the Inquisition, Thyl Ulenspiegel evolves from mischievous trickster into a passionate spy and agitator, carrying his father's ashes while serving the resistance alongside his companion Lamme Goedzak.
