About this work
When the doors are closed, this cabinet is relatively sober in appearance. This increases the surprise of its lavish interior with engraved mirrors. The two small central doors conceal a so-called ‘perspective’, with a niche whose inlays create the suggestion of architecture. The drawers were probably used to store valuable items and works of art.
