About this work
Guanyin is a bodhisattva, a Buddhist deity who obtained enlightenment. He stands on a lotus-shaped pedestal, the sides of which bear inscriptions marking the statue's date. The parallel folds in the drapery shows the influence of figurines stemming from India.
