The image shows a man seated at a writing desk. He is in profile, leaning forward with his right hand holding a pen and his left hand resting on the desk. The man has facial hair, a receding hairline, and short hair on top with a fuller back. He is draped with cloth, exposing his upper body and right leg. The desk is cluttered with papers, an open book, and an ink pot. A staff or pole leans against the desk. The background has linear textures, suggesting a wall or a partition.
